so... just wanted to check one little thing: were the inflection points for the graphing question (5 +/- 3*rt(5))/20? general impression... seemed somewhat easier than first test, but i'm kicking myself for not doing #5 properly... saw there were 5 mins left and panicked

those inflection points look right to me... For the max/min question would any line which results in an area of zero be the absolute min?

Pardon my opinion, God knows I didn't mean it to be so offensive I just thought, compared to previous years' term tests, the first one was definitely trickier, whereas this last one seemed more or less on par.

Thx for the confirmation Max/min: By area of zero you mean the set of lines with positive slopes? I think you could technically argue the point, but then it wouldn't be a max/min problem The way I did it was, I said to partition the first quadrant the slope needed to be negative, and eventually found the slope to be -3/5 (or -5/3? can't remember...)

Not necesarrily positive slopes but a horizontal or vertical slope would do as well. And as for difficulty I think I had more trouble with the first test than I did with this one

I never said I did WELL I just said that I found the first test harder than this one and since I didn't do very well on the first well then I think you can figure out the rest from there ;-P

u got 15% on this test?.,.., wow that's high.,., i prob got like 5%.,., wut da hell was the g' h' about??.,. i've never seen that in my life.,.,., i just made it g'(h(x)) .., is that right?., subed in h(x) value then took g'() whatever value h(x) was.., oh well that wasn't a question i worried about., only 6% the 10%, 10% and 15% ones i just totally skipped ... so that's wuth? 35%??., and the rest i prob got 10% of.,.,. ,

for that g' h ' stuff you need to take g'(h(x)) * h'(x)
I seem to recall a similar problem on one of the problem sets
