but the question said "returns a new String that contains, in order, only the characters in the parameter that are immediately preceded by a capital letter" they said "only the characters", so do we need to contain the space in the new String?

This is a very good question...i think we should ask the prof or TAs about that... I just looked at the API about how to solve this problem and i found in the Class Character...there is two methods... isWhiteSpace and isSpaceChar...and in the content it looks like they treat whitespace as character also...

spaces are characters... even numbers... anything that's a string... even funny looking symbols...
(they said characters, not letters - also on the comp sci newsgroup)

i have a question, it says "....characters in the parameter that are immediately preceded by a capital letter...." if you have FFFeeFde result: Fe wouldn't the result include some of the capital letters also since some of the Fs are preceding by a capital letter...not just the lowercase letters?? preceded means the ones before right??? i looked it up in the dictioinary just to make sure these classes are getting on my nerves

it's in the newsgroup

Sleep? What is this "sleep" you speak of weird man?
Anyone else feel like complaining? These assignments should be challenging on the Java syntax/construction level not the understanding of it.

So true, Brutal.
I think we should start a petition about the level of ambiguity on the handout and keep it peaceful.

We could run-a-muck through all CSC offices and screw them over.

like what those high school students did with their e-cow tests or something like that?? i have no opinion!!! (i'm not going to incriminate myself by any means) 8)
and they're computer programmers, so they should know better to be very clear and concise... if they can give directions to computers so they work properly, why can't they give directions to students in the same way?

You guys know what the number one complaint in MIT in the USofA is? Professors can't speak english. Not even "sorta ok", most of them speak through a translator. *shiver* Imagine 137 there...
