do we have to put "throws IOException" in our main signature? what does it mean/what is it supposed to do again?

only put that in your main method
(i am POSITIVE about this... i am not wrong on this one!!)
it just lets java accept the possibility that the user might enter data that's too big for java to work with... (but what are the chances of that?)

actually, you HAVE to put it in... if you're using any input, your program won't run without it
