Hey guys, if any of you are into the scene, theres a small IRC network that I found, there awesome becasue they don't have alot of netsplits, the people are nice, and there's not too many channels so there are no channel wars, they have fast servers and they aren't always full or have like 100/200 queues. Any way the server is irc.zer0limit.net or you can connect to console-world.zerolimit.net port 4000 (its a Canadian server). If you need polaris you can download it from www.polaris-central.com. You can look for me, im in #Console-World.

I'll definately check that out once I clear up some HD space Just in terms of mIRC scripts I find 54script to be a better choice than polaris.. Just personal preference though. And remember kids, when you download pirated material you are downloading your very own little piece of digital communism.

are there any other alternatives aside from IRC?
3 major dilemmas:
- morpheus isn't as good as it used to be since it got kicked off kazaa's server
- kazaa sets up spyware on your computer regardless of u "choose" to install it or not (which takes screenshots of your comp, records the site u visit and sends it to someone else... very easy for viruses to enter your comp)
- web sites don't supply enough subtitled JAPANESE episodes... (i.e. Initial D, Rurouni Kenshin, Flame of Recca, Slam Dunk!, etc.)

Majin, depends what you want to get. For anime check out www.noated.com especially their message boards. People advertise anime ftps on there. But again it depends what you are looking for. FTPs are great for most things but often tough to find. Newsgroups used to be good but now suck (with Rogers anyways)... Kazaa has spyware which DOES piss me off because of the system resources they suck up and if you remove it Kazaa stops working. But I use it anyways, I mean who cares if some marketing exec somewhere finds out that I visited this website or downloaded that mp3.

There's spyware from VX2 that sends information you fill out in forms.
If anyone would be kind enough to post how to navigate through IRC so I can download Dreamcast games and anime it would be greatly appreciated. I don't know shit about shit with this IRC business. You kids with your fancy pirating. In my day (1999) we did the pirating face to face.

Ahh the good old days of Dreamcast ISOs... All the places I knew of are long gone. But you should maybe check out efnet or dalnet or something. But you are probably going to end up waiting in queues.

actually irc is quite easy to manage once you get used to it. Download mirc/polaris/54 script, whatever your heart desires. Then goto File-->Options-->Connect Tab-->click add-->
under description put whatever you want, under irc server type irc.zer0limit.net or the ip from my prev. post, leave the port or for the ip in my prev post adjust the port as in prev post.
Click add, find it in your dropdownlist of servers and press connect to IRC Server (make your you have filled out a fake full name, email, and the nickname you want to use).
Then you will see the program connect to the server, once there in the status window you can type /join #Console-World for my server or click List Channels and then double click the channel you want to enter.
Once there you will see ad's moving up the screen, those are other people's servers, to connect to them you have to type whatever they have in their TRIGGER, which you can see in the add and press enter. then in a sec or so a request to chat will pop up, you click yes and you are now in their server. If you are used to dos commands the rest is a breeze or else (cd - change dir, cd..--go back dir, get *.* will request the file thisfile.rar, bye --exit the server, and some other ones as well) When you try to get a file the persons server will put it into a queue or send it right away, all you have to do is stay online and wait, and make sure you have queued all the files for that game, app, whatever. And remember to be nice, or else people won't help you. You can come to the server i'm in and if this isn't enough i can help you out or another operator of the channel can.
Good Luck : CW FOREVER! (#Console-World, irc.zer0Limit.net) Gotta Plug the channel.

Thanks for the detailed instructions, Defiant. I'm all set up now. I'm actually not very comfortable with DOS commands so it's pretty intimidating. I've figured out how to search (@find, right?), but that's it. How do I download off of somebody?

For those of you that use Kazaa, there are two ways to get rid of the Spyware: 1- You can either use a program like Ad-aware which scans the registry and folders for programs which are spyware and it will find the registry entries for the spyware program Kazaa uses to monitor us. The program is called Cydoor, all you have to do is remove their registry entries which make them start up whenever your computer boots up and Kazaa will be fooled. ** Note: if you remove the Cydoor software component they install though, Kazaa will not work anymore. So only remove its registry entries **
2- Or even better, there is a crack for Kazaa, even the newest version. Which is a *.dll file which you place in your Windows/System32 file ... and a Registry entrie which gets rid of the Spyware and the Banner which makes the Stupid Bonzo Monkey bounch around in the damn program.
I'm using the crack right now, seems to be working good.

Or even better: don't download KaZaA and download KaZaA lite which has no spyware! www.Kazaalite.tk
