I failed the exam horribly. However, I'm certain I racked up enough points to pass the course overall. If this was CSC where you need to get a 40% at least in the exam to pass the course I would have failed the course.
IMO that was really tough, but that may appear to be true to me because it seemed to entirely revolve around the stuff we covered in the final couple of weeks. There was hardly anything on their that wasn't from the last two weeks. And as I my bad luck goes I studied very little of the stuff we did in the last two weeks in comparison to the rest of the course. So I got screwed.
They really ought to have had questions from earlier on too IMO to spread the material out. Why were they almost all centered around two or so weeks of the course only?
For those of you taking CSC, I'm finding it's much easier to study for, are you finding this? I just hope they make the CSC exam fair, that's all I ask. Not any super confusing inheritance issues that make your mind go insane hopefully. Actually, knowing them that's exactly what's on it. I'm studying that more than anything!
Oh well, I'll stop my whining, since I'm just glad I'll be able to pass the course. For those you of you who think you may have failed the whole course however, I'm really sorry, that must suck. Just don't go jumping off Robarts!

What the hell was that economics question doing there? I just reasoned it out and I used a poisson distribution (not for any particular reason other than I like saying 'poisson' in my head). I need to pass this exam to get somewhere around 55% in the course. I think we have to pass this exam or we don't get the cred right?

I don't think so. I know for certain that in the CSC exam you must get 40% or you fail but there is nothing on the STA107 outline that says you need to pass the exam to pass the course and if I find out you have to now I'll complain. I needed 17% in the exam to get a pass and through probably bad preparation on my part I doubt I got little over that.
Just modifying this to say that I just went through the out line again and there is NOTHING that states you need to pass the exam in order to pass the course (thank goodness for me). On the CSC one it says you must get 40 out 100 though but I expect that will be much easier than this. Especially if it is anything like the past papers.

Man the exam was just f'ing gay... I thought this would be a cumulative exam... but heck it's only on the crap that we did in the last two or three weeks of school.. WTF is this crap... Oh well As long as I pass this course I'm happy... this piece of sh... course won't count in my CGPA as long as I take another full credit 100... But heck... This was WAY Harder than the past exams.. I tried to use those as a backbone but heck.. the stat prof must be laughing since he smacked all of us pretty badly! Good Luck Guys on 108 ... Should be easier since they normally write a 2hour exam with you having 3 hours to do it...

It hasn't been the year for sticking with the tradition of past papers. Just look at the 137 midterm and compare last year's with this year's. Well, as long as we only need 40% on it I say

I failed the exam, and not a respectable fail either. It was nasty.
If you want to see your exam, be prepared to pay $30 so that they can make a photocopy of it, since that is the only way you can see how you did.

Being able to remember how to do normal distribution ?'s from finite 2 years ago and memorizing the properties for variance, covariance and expectation really paid off. I have to say part b was impossible, no clue how to do that, but the rest of the test was based mainly on the last 3rd of the course. This was a good thing for me, I only caught 2 classes during variance and covariance and none of the others after that so I devoted most of my time to understanding those concepts. I had no idea how to do anything covered on midterm 1 so you know which question I skipped. I guess I got lucky.
About having to pay $30 to see my test, that's a load of sheeat. Do they even have a course website where we can check out marks? If they don't that's pretty ghetto.

I can't believe I am looking at the math board during the night before Christmas eve on a freakin Saturday night when I should be out partying, out there causing trouble , and racing on the streets... hahaha..j/k.
Ohh well, I thought the STA exam was okay. Nothing too hard. I remember my solution for Part B was a 2 line solution. And my answer turned out to be correct. Basically, I didn't do much in this course. I was looking at sport cars and playing video games on the night before the exam, I think I got at least a 3.7 GPA on this course (hahaha.. watch I end up with with a 2.0). I highly recommend STA107 to others who haven't taken it yet.
Now the ECO100Y test and the CSC108 exam were brutal!!! I F'ked up ECO100 so bad.
SquirrelHunterPro, I will meet you on the roof top with my PSG-10.

It's PSG-1.... not 10... hehe You 've played too much Metal Gear Solid... but I meant to say PSG-90 PSG-90 is a more common rifle. My father is a senior FAC firearms instructor and former ICAC instructor in Hong Kong. He was also a full bore long range rifle shooter. He used to have a HECKLER & KOCH PSG-54E. He used to be able to shoot a key hole from 900 meters. But thats all in the past. I used to do IPSC (International practical shooting confed).. its fun, basically you simulate emergency combat situation.

But seriously, for those who are interested in long range rifle shooting, look at the SL8-1 .223 from Heckler & Koch www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/pages/civilian/sl8.htmlhere is a standard IPSC pistol Someone shooting a IPSC gun I stopped from all these sports because I find it a waste of time. Its not like I am ever going to need to use a gun in my life. I'm wouldn't need any gun handling skill in my field of Computer Science or Actuarial Science. Knock Wood.

actually i think it is most necessary especially if you are taking the comp sci course... in case you fail the math component and decide to go postal, you'll have something to shoot with instead of running around the block with a bat or a kitchen knife... what I want is that stinger missile launcher in MGS2... that way I can take out ppl "en mass" no need to go 1 at a time.... mass destruction... mmmmmm...... create a state of emergency...... better yet, go gran theft auto... LOL too many ps2 games for me over this winter break.
