OK, I completely don't understand step 7 from Part 1. Can anyone give some clarifications?

Just what does UT want from this course?
A group of students who can read minds or a group of students who has the potentials to persude a carrer in comp sci?
names? I have names like store_elements_tobe_compared
this one is good: assignment2_is_stupid

I have to hand part one in tonight...

It's a good idea to do part 1 with at least two other students. Me and my buddies finished it in an hour and a half. But this group thing only works if your buddies are smart.

That sounds nice but doesn't it fall into plagarism... besides, sadly I have no friends. So you know how to do the final step (7)? Is the idea behind it really simple, are there any hints that you can drop by, because I don't know what to do at all for it.

>>>That sounds nice but doesn't it fall into plagarism... <<< Well, it's memory models. I mean it's pretty hard to understand part 1 on your own since this is our first time doing this stuff. We worked together, not copied. Key difference. Sure, our answers were very similar since we worked together, but we're all in different tutorials. We just helped each other understand the problem. I know we're not allowed to work together for assignments, but this isn't program design. This is about understanding memory models. >>>besides, sadly I have no friends.<<< That can't be true! You have a FF icon for god's sake. You must have friends. If you don't, just poke the person who sits next to you in their ribs and say "Yo, let's be friends or I'll keep poking you." It works. >>>So you know how to do the final step (7)? Is the idea behind it really simple, are there any hints that you can drop by, because I don't know what to do at all for it. <<< The variable names they gave are hints. ie. x becomes next. Of course, this isn't a rule, but it helps. You have to understand what TN and VN do too, that's crucial. Just run the program - with the missing lines - and see what it does. Try different parameters and see what it does. Then find a bunch of friends and work together because part 1 isn't fun on your own. Again, it's the first time we're doing memory models, so it's alright to work with a couple of other people to understand what's going on.

You know, may be because you mentioned that 'next' example again, something just kick started my mind and I'm beginning to sort of see what we are to do. Thanks for that. I had a MGS2 (Solid Snake) icon before but after finishing FFX two weeks ago, I just felt like changing (I had more fun with FFX than basically any other FF so far). You're 'poking' method sounds more like a sure way to make enemies rather than friends

If they look at you like you're crazy, or start screaming out of fear, they are too uptight and, therefore, aren't friend-worthy.

Sylph - you're lucky. At least you don't live with your parents. :|
Is dorm life like the show underGRADS? If you don't know what I'm talking about, I pity you.

There are pro's and con's to both living at home and in residence I think. I live at home and while at times early on I was wishing I lived in residence there are good advantages to living at home (that is, if at the least you get along well with your family).
I'm kind of wondering whether I'm missing out on an experience but I'm betting all those TV shows/films that glorify living in dorms are exaggerated. Everyone's too stressed about getting assignments/tests done wherever you are. Or may be I'm completely wrong. I did think though that people in residence would have a better chance of making decent friends though, but lately that's turning out to be false too at times. Aside from Sylph's example, one of my friends (friend that I haven't seen for three years) is living in residence (not here obviously) and he's pretty much friendless he says. He has people in higher years living around his dorm though. One thing I've learned that's independent of anything university related - moving sucks in terms of friendship, I haven't had friends in three years, I grew up with a massive group of them and then my family moved and at 16 I'd virtually forgotten how to do it all again in a new place.

well, i guess i know ppl, but i don't think i can relate to most of the ppl around me. they don't take the same courses, have the same interests, etc. as me on the most part. yes, i am pitiful. i don't know what ur talking about in reference to 'underGRADS'... i haven't watched tv since the summer, cuz the our rez tv had major problems, and now there is no tv... aww, poor Observer anyway, does anyone have any helpful hints on what the "names" should be? i named some of them, and it kinda matches up with the original class/method initial. but i can't figure out other names so that it is consistent w/ this trend.

i don't wanna do my work. it sucks! i did step 6, and it still doesn't give me that much magical insight in to what the names should be. i helps, but it's so arbritrary, how are they gonna mark this?
