EVERYONE CHECK YOUR EMAILS~ paul gries decided to give an extension for the Project here are the details: Please read this entire message *extremely carefully*.
Some students are still unable to log in at CDFPC. This new extension is designed to both reduce the load on the CDFPC server (Go home! Now! Sleep!) and to not penalize students who submitted on time.
First: projects that were turned in by noon today will get a 10% bonus.
Second: we will not answer any more questions about the project, whether in email, in person, or posted on the newsgroup.
And the new due date and time: Monday 10am sharp, both electronic and on paper. Warning: lab problems on Monday morning will NOT be considered grounds for an extension.
For those students who turned in the project BEFORE noon, you have a choice: leave it as it is and take the 10% bonus, or resubmit by Monday 10am. If you do resubmit, please write "RESUBMISSION" in big letters on the front of you assignment so that we don't get confused and mark the wrong one.
For those students who turned in the project AFTER noon, you have a choice: leave it as it is, or resubmit by Monday 10am. If you do resubmit, please write "RESUBMISSION" in big letters on the front of you assignment so that we don't get confused and mark the wrong one.
Paul Gries writes: > The CDFPC lab has been non-functioning this morning. As a result, the new > due time (both electronic and paper) is 3pm. Please spread the word!

Is this a joke? I just read it on the 148 page but do you think some really clever guy/girl in CS could have hacked in and done that!? (okay, perhaps no one is that smart in CS). This doesn't seem like it would be true. Or Paul Gries could be really late with his April fools jokes. In the end I wasn't able to completely finish mine but I submitted what I'd done and also handed in the paper stuff.
10am April 8th seems like a huge extension if this is true. And if we did decide to resubmit what about our envelope already in the drop box with old code?

and i just came to the conclusion that the 148 profs were all evil... i think this project was so mean, depriving everyone of sleep... but the extension was because the server was down... still, the profs aren't that evil anymore..

I agree but IMO the MAT137 profs on the other hand are still and always will be evil. Whenever there is a math test, the comp sci people move their assignment for that week over (they did in 108 too I remember). We have a massive project for CS due and what do the MAT profs do? Nothing. Same thing at our mid-term. Also, they make the tests way too difficult I think, whereas the CS ones are usually more fair.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I get 10% bonus, but I still think it should be more!
I mean, a 4 day extention is pretty long. That is about how long it took me to finish it all.
