ATTN: U of T Comp Sci students. There is a virus in the 108 newsgroup that may have infected your comp it is a trojan that can steal your windows passwords and spread from your computer to others. I suggest you immediately update your virus scanner and run a full system scan. Also you may want to run windows update. Pass this message on to anyone you know that may have been exposed to this.

I'm not too sure how that particular virus checker works but I know that it almost slipped through with me because Norton doesn't automatically protect against new e-mail accounts (i.e. the one I set up to access the newsgroup from home) which is a pretty dumb setting if you ask me. It should add all new accounts to its auto-protect list but anyways... I think I avoided infection because I recently ran windows update and d'led a patch to protect my system from that particular vulnerability.
Now if only Microsoft could make a patch that keeps spyware off of my comp... AdAware just doesn't get rid of all of it... *sigh*

i updated norton antivirus and ran a full system scan, but it didn't detect anything. however, i'm having a lot of errors - opening a word document, creating rescue disk for norton, shutting down... everytime, it says "A fatal exception OD has occurred at FFFF:0000FFFF. The current application will be terminated." I can't even shut down properly.
