on pg 53,54 of the lecture slides, it has
P fum = new B();
and it says that "The object has parts for B and P, and its type is B." but for the assignment, part 1 steps 4 and 5, in object space, the instance of L at 0001 has
N f 0100 [with the corrections]
even though the constructor has f = new TN();
i thought the new operator determined what type an object was. so why is f a N instead of a TN?

I believe the answer to your question is "it is an instance of TN, but of type N, which allows the use of N methods and TN methods." I'm only 99% sure of this though.
