ok i just want some ideas and hints/tips whatever you call it, on how to randomly draw the bones (4,3,3,2) and not go over the 10x10 matrix? do u use If statements for avoiding the bones from going off the matrix? and the bones are 'x's right? and grounds with no bones are '.' ? just need to get these ideas straight. hope you guys can help, oh yeah if you can find me Cecilia's animated gif icon oh boy...i will personally thank you.. p.s she's hot gundamf91

i don't think u can go over. if u read the instructions, it tells u to always make it the topmost if it is vertical, and leftmost if it is horizontal. so always make the starting value 0 and go right or down from that.

i don't think the handout really mean u can always start burying a line of bone at the 0 position because this way...each line of bone will touch the side of the grid and it doesn't look very random to me...the handout is really unclear...the way i interpret "choose the leftmost/topmost position of the line so that the line won't be too long for the grid" is choose any position and make sure the line won't go off the edge(and not overlapping others)...for example, if i am burying the line of length 4 horizontally...then i generate a random number from of 0 to 6 ie. r.nextInt(size - bone4 + 1) where size is 10 and bone4 is 4 <same as r.nextInt(7)>...so if i start to bury the line in any of these random position...it won't go off the edge
i think some one ask about this in the newsgroup too

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Not very random when they're mostly in the top left quadrant.

Sky, the way u interpreted leftmost/topmost is correct. ;D An instructor told me what the handout meant was not have the line of bones don't go off the edge of the grid.
